In this day and age a record number of people are going into business for themselves. In that regard, a majority of these men and women are starting an Internet business from home. Here are some of the basics and fundamentals associated with an Internet business from home.

First of all, just because you have started a Internet business from home does not mean that you have to do everything yourself. There is a tendency -- and an unfortunate one at that -- for people who start an Internet business from home to fail to obtain professional assistance in their endeavors. For example, if these people were to start a business in the brick and mortar world, they would seek professional help in regard to marketing and promotion. The same should hold true for a Internet business from home. If you are starting or involved with a Internet business from home, you need to take a good, long look at which professional services will be able to benefit you and your Internet business from home.

The next basic factor that you need to bear in mind when considering or operating an Internet business from home is the importance of a comprehensive business plan. Unfortunately, many people embark on an Internet business from home very willy-nilly. They do not plan. And, in the end, they fail. Just like you would develop a comprehensive business plan for an enterprise in the brick and mortar world, so you must do the same for an Internet business from home.

Go for the bronze.

Repeat...go for the bronze.

That's right, DO NOT go for the gold.

Lets look at this another way. If you are learning how to read, will you start off by reading difficult philosophy?

Certainly not! You will begin by reading short, simple books with small words.

Lets apply this to your Internet Marketing career.

Too many times I have seen Internet Marketers trying to "Go for the gold" when they are simply not ready to do so.

If I may steal a line from one of my favorite movies, "What about Bob?" you must take baby steps.

The Internet Marketing field is HUGE...

...so you must make a wise choice.

Pick a part of it that you are the most interested in, or know the most about. Become an expert in this area, whether it be graphic creation, opt-in list building, writing articles, creating niche sites or something as simple as creating a great headline.

I have seen eBooks that teach only how to create a great headline and still received a high number of sales.

Once you are an expert in this field, it's time to expand. Pick another field related to the first one and research.

Remember, baby steps.

It is your quickest path to success.

Internet marketing has so many great opportunities. You can create your own product or you can sell someone else's (affiliate marketing).

Which should you do?

If you affiliate market, you can get started immediately--just send traffic to an affiliate site.

If you create your own product, you can make much more money on the backend---they buy your product and then a month later, they buy another from you.

If you affiliate market, you don't need to create your own web site.

If you create your own product, you can test and tweak your own web site.

If you affiliate market, you are paid later.

If you create your own product, you get paid now.

If you affiliate market, you view returns as a percentage.

If you create your own product, you view returns personally.

So which should you do?

I think that for some, affiliate marketing has its advantages. It is easier and requires much less hard work.

For others, creating your own product is powerful. You have complete control, can charge whatever you want, and create a loyal following of customers.
